On the road
in 3 easy steps

1
Plug in the RookieDongle

These days, vehicles are basically computers. They have an on-board diagnostics port that exposes a whole host of data: speed, mileage, performance, ... Get started by inserting the RookieDongle into your car's OBD II port, an industry standard in the vast majority of cars made in the last 20 years.

Next, sign up for an account to pair the Dongle, and take the vehicle for a short drive to start the RookieDongle's internal GPS. Don't worry, you can easily set up multiple drivers for the same dongle.

2
Access your account in the cloud

Once started, the RookieDongle will start pushing its data securely to the cloud. It has its own embedded data connection with a virtual SIM card that works all over the entire European continent, so you can safely take it with you on trips across the border – no extra charges.

In the meantime, we compare the data with our vast database of road networks and speed limits, and assign each trip and driver a safety score based on their driving behavior. Log in to your RookieDongle account, accessible on any smartphone, tablet or computer, for extensive charts, maps and logs.

3
Get customized reports and alerts

Of course, you'll want to know as soon as possible when your rookie is driving carelessly. With fully customizable SMS and email alerts, you'll see instantly when one of the configurable thresholds is exceeded. Cheating is ruled out as well, as you'll be notified if the device is unplugged.

When your RookieDongle is set up in Privacy mode and no thresholds are crossed, the locations, speeds and times remain private, and only visible to the driver. It's a great incentive and reward for safe driving.
